Two officers sat in an office, filling out paperwork, inquisitions
and other forms that came with running a squadron.  The man behind
the big desk, General Wedge Antilles, sat back and watched the blonde-
haired Alderaanian in front of him.
Colonel Tycho Celchu had come a long way in his life.  A proud son of
Alderaan, he had been raised to give a sense of pride and
determination in everything he did.  That was why he had originally
joined the Imperial Academy.  But when the world he fought proudly
for was destroyed, Tycho had left to join the rebellion.
In the rebellion, Tycho had fought hard side by side with Wedge for
years, until he was captured and spent time on the Lusyanka.  When he
finally got free, the New Republic looked at him with concern, afraid
that he was an imperial agent against them.  But Tycho's spirit
prevailed and he was again given his freedom, this time from any
scrutiny that the New Republic held against him.
And all through that time, Tycho also had his emotional backer,
Winter.  The two of them had met just after Endor, and fallen in love
almost instantly.  But their lives had not always been as pleasant.
Winter was the aide to Princess Leia, and was always doing some sort
of business for her.  Recently, she had been hidden away from
everyone while helping raise Leia's three children, and was now
working as a nanny to the children while Leia acted as Chief of State
of the New Republic.
The time Winter and Tycho spent actually together was few and far
between, but when they were together, Wedge could see the love in
their eyes.  The same kind of love that is between Iella and myself
Wedge thought.  While Tycho and Winter had been courting for over a
decade now, Wedge had gone through a few short romances, then finally
took a stand and asked Iella Wessiri to marry him.  They had been
married for about two years now, and their daughter, Syal, was a few
months old.
Getting married and starting a family was the best thing that had
ever happened in his life, and he could only wish that one day his
friend would get the same fortune.
Tycho finished writing his report and lifted his head, rotating his
neck around in small circles.  "If I had known there was this much
paperwork involved in running a squadron, I would have just told you
to keep the Rogues."
Wedge laughed.  "Everything has its good points and bad points, and
it's paperwork."
Tycho smiled.  "So, how's the baby?"
"Syal's fine," Wedge stated, looking at the new holo on his desk.  It
showed him and Iella holding their baby daughter.  "She caught a tiny
cold a bit back, but she's fine now."
"That's good," Tycho said, his eyes staring out the window beside
them.  Wedge smiled, knowing where Tycho's mind was going.
"How's Winter?" Wedge asked.
Tycho sighed, and Wedge knew he had been right.  "She's doing ok,"
Tycho said.  "After that scare on the Cresri station, they aren't
taking any chances on the children.  Chewbacca and Winter are with
them almost all the time."
"Do you get to see each other at all?"
"A few dinners now and then."  Tycho's gaze went back to the
window.  "It's just too hard.  Between the squadron and her duties to
Leia, we barely have any time together."
"I wish there was something I could do to help you," Wedge said.
Tycho smiled.  "Well, if we get this paperwork finished tonight will
help me get some sleep."
Wedge laughed.  "I remember the days where all we ever got was an
hour of sleep before we went off to face our foes in combat."
"Strange how our priorities change as we get older."
The two friends exchanged a quick smile, then got back to their work.

At the Solo household, Winter tucked a sleeping Anakin Solo into his
bed for an afternoon nap.  For the first time since the children had
been recovered from their kidnapping, Chewie was not present in the
house.  He and Han had gone to work out some kinks on the Falcon,
leaving Winter all alone with the three children.
Anakin, being only three and a half, still fell asleep easily for his
afternoon nap.  The twins, however, were a different story.
"I don't want to go to bed," Jaina Solo stated, pouting out her lip.
"Me neither," Jacen Solo said, going along with his twin sister as
always.
Winter sighed.  It was the same game every afternoon.  "You both know
that you get an hour nap after lunch every day.  Now stop these games
and go to bed."
"I wanna go to the zoo!" Jaina said.
"ZOO!" Jacen said, jumping up and down.
"Nap first," Winter said.  "Then we will see."
Jaina locked eyes with Winter, and the two females proceeded to have
a staring contest.  Winter had told Leia that when Leia was young,
she would do the exact same thing to her adopted father.  Jaina felt
that if she could out-stare an adult, she would win her argument.
Winter, however, was very used to the tactics of the Solo children.
She kept a cool gaze on Jaina, and after a few moments, the female
Solo twin lowered her gaze.  She pouted her lips for a moment, then
stalked off to the adjoining room that was her bedroom.
Jacen, who had remained quiet during the whole staring ordeal, looked
at Winter once with wide eyes, then followed his sister out.
Smiling, Winter turned to look back at Anakin, but he slept
peacefully, unaware of his older sister's doings.  She gently pushed
back a strand of stray hair that fell over his face, then quietly
walked out of his room to where the twins slept.
Inside, both twins were on Jacen's bed, curled up in each other's
arms, already fast asleep.  Winter smiled, not daring to go near them
and separate them.  Jaina always acts up more when she's really
tired, Winter mused as she walked out into the hallway.  Once her
head hit the pillow, she probably fell right asleep.
Winter continued down the hall and into the kitchen to clean up the
mess that was left of lunch.  True, she had droids that could clean
it up, but Winter found it almost therapeutic doing the cleaning
herself.  While she worked, she thought out what she would do with
the kids after they woke up.  Suddenly, an idea came to her mind and
she pulled out a comlink.

Wedge and Tycho looked up as the comlink on the desk started to
beep.  Tycho grabbed it and said, "Celchu here."
"Zoo in two hours.  Don't be late, Flyboy."
The comlink clicked off, and Tycho could not hold back the smile on
his face as he got back to work.  Wedge watched him for a second,
seeing the instant change in the colonel's demeanor.  He wished that
there were something he could do to make Tycho have that happiness
all the time.  Letting the thought settle in the back of his mind,
Wedge went back to his paperwork.

Winter smiled as she held Jacen's hand in the museum.  Jaina saw a
bit ahead, pushing Anakin's stroller.  While Jaina and Anakin were
just running along, making up an adventure in their minds, Jacen was
studying the animals.  At that moment, they were in the Endor
exhibit, looking at the Ewoks.
The Ewoks were shown as Leia had described to the zoo.
The display held one stuffed replication of the creature, while a
holo played beside it after a button was pressed.  In the holo, they
were in the midst of the victory celebration after the second death
star was destroyed.
"Are the Ewoks really that friendly?" Jacen asked Winter, his
eyes wide with curiosity.
Before Winter could answer, a voice from behind them
spoke.  "Yes they are, Jacen.  In fact, they were a real big help in
the battle we had there."
Winter and Jacen turned and saw Tycho approaching, holding a
single flower in his hand.  He gave the flower, an Alderaanian
orchid, to Winter, with a soft kiss on her cheek.  Then he knelt down
to Jacen's eye level.  "In fact, if you look at that holo, you can
see me and Wedge with your father."
Jacen looked closely at the holo.  He instantly picked out
his father in the far background, and saw that indeed Tycho and Wedge
were there with him.  "You've really seen the Ewoks?"
Tycho nodded and smiled.  He picked the boy up and put him on
his shoulders, then walked with Winter around the zoo, telling the
Solo children all about the battles he had fought and the wonders he
had seen.  Smiling, Winter followed him, putting the flower in her
hair after awhile.

Wedge returned to his office after a quick sim run with
Corran Horn, Wes Janson and Hobbie Klivian.  He and Tycho had
finished the paperwork in record time after Winter's message.  The
whole time, Tycho's boyish grin had never faded, and had only grown
as the work pile got smaller.  Once it was gone, Tycho had rushed out
the door, leaving Wedge all alone.
But he had to laugh.  Wedge had never seen Tycho so happy
when he was with Winter.  When they were together, Tycho seemed to
lose all the age in his body, all the hardness that his life had made
him wear.  Winter also became a bit more relaxed, being able to focus
on something for herself than something for someone else.
The thought of finding a way to help them was still in the
back of his mind, and while he was sitting in the simulator, it had
started to take form.  Now, as he returned to his office, it began to
come forward in the form of a plan.  It would take a lot of work… but
I bet we could do it.
Closing his office door and securing it, Wedge pulled out his
comlink and started making a few calls.

Finally, the Solo children had been walking and listening to
stories for so long that they had fallen asleep again.  This time,
Jacen was curled up in Tycho's lap while Jaina was in Winter's.
Anakin slept in his stroller.
Winter watched Tycho as he absentmindedly smoothed Jacen's
hair.  "You'd be a good father," she told him.
Tycho smiled, then looked down at the sleeping Solo
twin.  "If we were ever to get the chance, that is."
"Don't give up all hope, Tycho," Winter said.  "I promise you
that one day we will finally get to be just by ourselves."
"Yeah, to do that, I would have to retire and the Solo kids
go off to Luke's Jedi Academy."
Winter gave Tycho a sharp look.  "Don't give up on me yet,
flyboy."  She gently lifted Jaina off her lap and onto the bench that
they were sitting on.  Tycho did the same with Jacen, and they walked
a few steps away.
"I'm not giving up," Tycho said, grabbing Winter's
hand.  "I'd never give up on you.  It took forever to get to you in
the first place."
Winter smirked.  "Good things are worth waiting for."
Tycho laughed loudly, and Winter motioned for him to be
quiet.  The Solo children stirred for a moment, then went back to
sleep.  They watched for a moment, then sighed in relief.
      "I'm tired of waiting."
Winter gazed up at him.  "What?"
"Let's get married.  No more waiting."
With wide eyes, Winter watched as Tycho got down on one
knee.  "I know I've asked you before, but now it's for real.  Winter,
will you marry me?"
Tycho watched as Winter's face changed from amazement to
being near tears.  She bit her upper lip and started to blush.  She
nodded her head.  "Yes."
Tycho jumped up and hugged her, and the two gave each other a
very passionate kiss.  They were lost in each other's embrace, until
they heard Anakin sigh.  Quickly, the two separated their lips and
looked at the almost-four year old boy.  He was still fast asleep,
just releasing the thumb he had been sucking.
Winter started to laugh.  "So, you have a plan, I'm taking
it."
"I have a week leave coming up in a month," Tycho said,
blurting out a plan as he thought it up.  "Tell Leia that you have to
take it off, no excuses.  We'll go to Commenor and get married at one
of the justices there."
      "No big wedding?"
Tycho smiled.  "We can save that for when we really have
time.  But I'm tired of being without you.  Please elope with me next
month.  I'll make it worth your while."
      "You'd better," Winter said, smirking.
      "Winta?"
They turned to see Jaina sitting up, rubbing her eyes.  Jacen
and Anakin were also waking up.  Winter and Tycho slowly parted out
of their embrace and walked to the two children, holding
hands.  "Back to reality," Winter whispered.

"Now, Wedge, why are we going to be doing this again?"
"Because, Leia, it's the right thing to do."  Wedge sat at
his desk, staring at a holoscreen with Chief of State Leia Organa-
Solo looking back.   "We're the ones who are keeping them from each
other most of the time.  We should be the ones to get them together."
"I don't know, Wedge," Leia replied.  "It seems like we might
be rushing them into something that they really don't want."
"Leia…" Wedge leaned into the holocam.  "When you see them
together, what do they remind you of?"
Leia thought for a moment.  "Of me and Han before we were
married."
Wedge nodded.  "I see them as me and Iella right after I
realized that I loved her.  Don't you see, Leia, they already are
married in spirit.  We can help them in body."
Nodding, Leia picked up a datapad.  "Ok, Wedge, tell me what
I have to do."
Wedge listed off the ideas that he had written down while
waiting for the aides to connect his call.  He talked about getting
Winter's dress, the ceremony, and the reception.  Wedge could take
care of Tycho's side of the marriage, but he wouldn't know about
Winter's half.
"It will have to be an Alderaanian wedding," Leia
said.  "That way, the Alderaanian council will pay for the ceremony.
Of course, we'll have to invite them."
"To the ceremony only," Wedge said.  "Keep the reception as
just being fa… friends."  Wedge had cut off the word family because
he knew that neither the groom or bride's family would be there.  One
more thing to blame on the Death Star.  "Will they be able to keep it
a secret?"
Leia nodded.  "Oh yes, one thing that politics are good for
is that no one knows what happens inside the office because the
sludge-news people are always looking for what happens in their out-
of-office lives."
"True."  Wedge looked at his calendar.  "Tycho has a week
leave coming up in about a month.  I'd say that first day would be
perfect.  That way, they can have that time for their honeymoon, and
Tycho won't get suspicious."
"How do we keep them apart for that first day?"
Wedge leaned back to look at a calendar.  There was nothing
important at all scheduled on the day they planned to hold the
wedding.  "We could say that an important diplomat came to town and
they are having a large dinner, and you, of course, have to be there,
and they want to see the children."
      "And Rogue Squadron?"
"And they of course want to meet the brave members of Rogue
Squadron," Wedge stated, puffing himself up.  "After all, we were the
ones to take on two Death Stars and survive."
Leia erupted into laughter.  "Wedge Antilles, Mirax was right
about you."
"Right about what?" Wedge said, returning to his normal
posture.
      "You are egotistical."
It was Wedge's turn to laugh.  "I'll send you an update after
I start making deals."
"Same here," Leia responded.  "I've always wanted to plan a
wedding, and doing it for my best friend seems just about right."

Three weeks flew by faster that an Ewok on a speederbike.  Tycho and
Winter were counting the days until they were going to elope.  No one
knew of their plans, keeping their plans quiet as so no one would try
and stop them.  Leia had agreed to Winter taking some time off, but
she warned her that the first day, the day in which was the most
important in Winter's mind, might be bad.
Meanwhile, Leia and Wedge had assembled their teams to plan
their friends' wedding.  Leia had gotten the council to make all the
wedding plans, keeping true to the style of an old-fashioned
Aldreaanian wedding.  And in keeping with Leia's wishes, they kept
the plans from being revealed.
Leia wanted to shop for Winter's wedding dress personally.
Being so similar in size and shape, the former Princess went shopping
with Iella and Mirax, claiming to be looking for a dress for a second
wedding with Han.  In the end, she found a white dress, nice and
subtle in the body, with sheer sleeves and embroidery along the
hems.  A detachable train came out from a waist flap, and the veil
came down from a crown of fake white orchids.
Leia bought one for Winter, and a similar one for herself, in
case she and Han ever did get the chance for the second honeymoon.
Flowers were ordered and rings were fitted from old ones "borrowed"
from Tycho and Winter.
Wedge, meanwhile, had been making arrangements for Tycho's
honeymoon, gathering ideas from the Rogues as to what Tycho and
Winter might enjoy, how they were going to get Tycho to the ceremony,
and more important matters of state.
"You know," Wes said.  "When you tell Tycho he has to cancel
his vacation because of a dinner, he's not going to be too happy."
"I know," Wedge replied.  "Iella has already told me that the
two already have some sort of plans."
Hobbie groaned.  "We're making him break plans with Winter as
so we can get them to marry each other.  Either he's gonna kill us or
love us forever."
"I hope the latter of the two," Wedge stated,
laughing.  "Now, what are we going to do to get him to go to
this `dinner'?"
"Just order him," Wes said.  "Tycho might get mad, but he
does know his duties."
"And if he decides at that moment to resign and attacks us
with vibroblades?"
Wes and Wedge gave Hobbie sidelong glances, then turned to
face each other.  "Don't worry, if Tycho doesn't come along, we'll
just drug him and take him with us."
Wes laughed.  "It's always good to have a backup plan."

Tycho bound around his room, packing up his pilot's bag.  He
had finished his last duty rounds a few hours ago, and was now
getting ready for his trip.  He knew that Winter would be doing the
same thing at her room in Leia's suite.  A smile came to his face as
he thought about Winter.  By tomorrow night, they were going to be
husband and wife.
Just as he finished packing his last few things, he heard his
comlink beep.  "Colonel Celchu here."
      "Tycho, its Winter."
"Hello beautiful," Tycho said, a big smile on his face.  "You
almost ready?"
      "That's why I called…"

Winter worked with Leia as they rushed to try and dress the
twins and Anakin.  She had the comlink wrapped around her ear with
the mic attached to her collar.  Anakin had decided that he would not
wear shoes today, and kept pulling his feet away as Winter tried to
get his shoes on.  "Tycho, I'm so sorry, but I can't meet you
tonight."
"But why?" his voice came back deflated.  "What about our
plans?"
Winter kept herself cool.  "I guess we'll just have to
reschedule it.  Leia got invited to a last minute dinner, and the
diplomats want the children there.  Some kind of publicity stunt.
She needs me to watch them."
      "I understand."
"Tycho, are you ok?"  Winter grabbed Anakin's leg and held it
with one arm while she got the shoe on and tied it one-handed.
Anakin tried to kick at her with the other foot, but she moved out of
the way.
      "I'm fine."
      "Are you sure…"

      "…You're ok?"
Tycho had sat on the bed next to his bag, the packing
forgotten.  "I'm fine."
"I will call you later.  Good night."
Tycho heard the comlink connection close on the other end,
and his thumb unconsciously turned his off.  He stared down at his
hands for a moment, then with lightning speed stood, turned and threw
the comlink against the opposite wall.  Moving backwards, his back
leaned against the wall near the window.  Lowering his head, his back
slid down the wall until he was sitting on the ground, arms rested on
top of his knees.
He tried to hold back the tears, but couldn't.  Why is it
whenever I think I'm finally completely happy with my life, that
something has to come along and shoot it down?  He hid his face in
the sleeves of his arms, and just sat there.
He sat there so long that he didn't hear the chime at the
door the first time.  It wasn't until the person at the door started
knocking physically on the door did Tycho even realize it.  "Enter,"
he said, and the door opened to let the person in.
Wedge, Wes and Hobbie entered, all dressed in their dress
uniforms.  "Tycho?" Wedge called out.
      "By the bed."
Wedge walked over to where Tycho sat, then knelt down beside
him.  "Tycho, are you ok?"
"I'm FINE!"  Tycho stood and walked to the refresher, wiping
his eyes.  It wouldn't do him any good to have his friends see him
with red eyes.  He noticed through the corner of his eyes that Wes
went into his closet and Hobbie was at his kitchen, pouring a glass
of water.  "What are you guys doing here, anyway?"
Wedge followed Tycho to the fresher and watched as the
colonel washed his face.  "We're invited as special guests to a
diplomatic dinner."
"I'm on leave," Tycho stated, his voice garbled a bit from
the water.
Wedge looked at the bag on Tycho's bed.  "You going
somewhere?"
Tycho stood up and turned the water off.  "I was," he said,
drying his face.  "Until this dinner came up and ruined my plans."
"Then at least come to it," Wedge said.  "Instead of staying
here by yourself."
Wes came to them, holding out Tycho's dress uniform.  Hobbie
held onto a glass of water.  Tycho looked at the two of
them.  "You're going to make it an order, I'm assuming."
Wedge nodded.  "How about this?  We know Winter will be
there, so I'll give you leave to be with her when not needed as a
group.  How about that?"
Tycho nodded, a faint smile coming to his face.  "At least we
will get to be together a bit."  He took the uniform from Wes and
quickly changed.  Hobbie and Wes exchanged a smile, and Hobbie set
the glass of water on the table behind him.
"If it's any consolation, I'll add a day to your leave,"
Wedge said.
"Don't worry about it," Tycho said, his voice lifting a bit
more in spirit.  "Just as long as I can be with Winter tonight."
"That's a boy," Wes said, slapping Tycho on the back.  "And
think, you can get really drunk, and not have to worry about going
onto duty the next morning."
Tycho laughed, then spied the water glass.  "Sorry to
disappoint you, but I try to act sober when I'm with women."
Quickly, he picked up the glass and drank the water inside it.
Hobbie, Wes and Wedge saw this happen and couldn't do a thing
to stop it.  They stared at Tycho with wide eyes as he wiped his lips
with his hand.  "What's wrong?" Tycho asked.
"Um… Tyc…" Wedge said, trying to figure out how to tell his
best friend that he had just drugged himself.
He didn't need to wait long for Tycho to realize it himself.
As Tycho placed the glass down, his face blanked and he started
blinking widely.  "What the…" he said, then toppled over.  Hobbie and
Wes reacted fast and were able to catch him before Tycho hit the
ground, unconscious.
"Well, that went well," Wes said.  "We just drugged a willing
victim."
"I didn't think he would drink it himself!" Hobbie said.
"Forget it," Wedge said, helping Wes and Hobbie stand and
adjust Tycho's arms over their shoulders.  "We need to get him to the
ceremony hall."
They stared towards the door, with Tycho dragging between the
two Majors.  "Yeah, Winter, Tycho really did want to get married
today, but didn't think he needed to be of sound mind," Wes quipped
under his breath as he carried the blonde colonel.
"Wes," Wedge said as he opened the door.
      "What?"
      "Can it."

      "You did WHAT?"
Mirax and Iella worked on making an extremely strong cup of
caf for Tycho, who slept on the first bench of the ceremonial hall.
The hall was decorated to resemble an Alderaanian chapel, complete
with an altar and long wooden benches for the guests to sit on.
White and violet orchids had been synthesized from Corran's
grandfather's garden for the occasion, each flower also acting as a
wedding placard when looked at the DNA.  "A special gift for the
bride and groom," Corran had said.  "We just have to make sure we
preserve a few for them."
"He drank the cup of water that had the sleep drug in it,"
Wedge said.  "We weren't able to stop him."
"Why didn't you just dump it out when he agreed?" Gavin asked.
Wes and Wedge gave Hobbie a sidelong stare.  Hobbie held up
his hands in defense.  "How was I to know he was going to drink it!"
"Well, we need to bring him around," Mirax said as Iella went
to make Tycho drink the caf.  "I just got a com from Luke.  They are
in route and should be here in about 10 minutes."
Wedge muttered a curse under his breath and knelt down beside
Tycho.  Iella had him sitting up a bit, his eyes fluttering open at
the smell of the caf.  Iella brought the cup to his lips, and made
him take a sip.
"Oh…" Tycho moaned, and his eyes opened, then squinted from
the lights of the hall.  " He let his eyes adjust, then finally
focused on Wedge.  "What happened?"
"You drank our back-up plan," Wedge said.
"You're what?"  Tycho took another sip, then shook his head
at the taste.  "Sithspawn, that's awful."
"Drink it," Iella said as Mirax brought them another
cup.  "You're gonna need it."
Tycho quirked an eye as he drank the rest of the cup
slowly.  "Why?"
Wedge smiled and nodded for Tycho to look behind him.
Slowly, Tycho stood and turned as he saw hundreds of faces staring
back at him.  He looked around and saw all the flowers and ribbons,
then the altar with Admiral Ackbar standing behind in ceremonial
robes.  "What's going on?" Tycho asked, looking over the rest of the
Rogues, who were all in dress uniforms.
"Welcome to your wedding, Colonel Celchu," Wedge announced.
Tycho spun with incredible speed to look at Wedge.  "MY WHAT?"
"Your wedding."  Wedge smiled and placed a hand on Tycho's
shoulder.  "I got to thinking that between Leia and myself, we keep
you and Winter from ever making your own plans.  So, we just made
them for you."
All the Rogues smiled as Tycho's face went through a series
of emotions.  He was unable to speak, and Wedge waited until he was
again in control of his emotions.  Finally, Tycho smiled at Wedge, a
tear trying to leave his eye.  "Thanks."
Wedge nodded.  "It's the only thing I could do."
Iella handed Tycho another cup of caf.  "We need you to be of
sound mind, so that way Winter knows you really mean it."
Tycho started in on the second cup, his mind clearing more
and more with each sip.  "Whose idea was it for the drugs anyway?"
Tycho asked, eyeing Hobbie and Wes.
"It was Wedge!" they both exclaimed, and everyone started
laughing.

Leia and Winter walked up the steps to the ceremony hall.
Han, Luke and Chewbacca walked a few feet ahead with the children,
while Winter and Leia discussed the proper seating arrangement for
the children at the dinner table, as to keep them from getting into
trouble.
"I just hope that I won't ruin this dress while I'm with
them," Winter said, her hands pressing against the fabric of the
simple white gown.  "I can't believe you wanted me to wear something
this beautiful."
"Well," Leia said, smiling, "Colonel Celchu will be there
representing the Rogues.  I figure that it'll make the two of you
look like a fashionable couple."
Winter smiled and blushed.  They reached the door, and Han
opened it.  "I'll go inside and let them announce you," he said,
kissing Leia on the cheek.  Luke and Chewie herded the children
inside.  "Should I join them?" Winter asked.
"No, stay with me a moment longer," Leia said, and she looked
Winter over with a judging gaze.  "I think we need to add something
to your outfit."
Winter lifted her eyebrows.  "Like what?"
Leia motioned for Threepio to come over.  He had been waiting
at the door for them at the hall, holding Winter's veil and train out
of sight.  As he came to Leia's side, Leia picked up the veil and
placed it on Winter's head, the thin fabric falling over Winter's
face.
"Leia," Winter said.  "You're making me look like I'm about
to walk down the aisle for a wedding."
Leia smiled and clicked the comlink in her hand.  "You are,"
she said, as both doors to the ceremonial hall opened, revealing the
decorated room.  Winter watched in amazement as Iella and Mirax
quickly appeared, taking the train and attaching it to her back with
practiced skill.
Luke came back to their side and held out his arm to
Winter.  "You have a Colonel waiting for you."
Winter turned to Leia, who was now standing arm and arm with
Han.  They both had tears in their eyes.  "Thank you," Winter said.
Leia nodded, unable to speak.  She and Han turned to walk
down the aisle with Jacen directly in front of them, holding a pillow
with two gold bands.  Behind them, and in front of Winter and Luke,
walked Jaina with a basket of flowers.
The traditional wedding march of Alderaan played as the group
proceeded down the long aisle.  Winter saw people staring at her,
smiling and happy for her.  She hadn't felt this happy for a long
time.
Ahead of her, she saw Tycho and Wedge standing next to
Admiral Ackbar, who was in the traditional wedding robes.  Tycho was
trying to stay still, but he looked as if he was ready to bounce
around the room.
"What's up with Tycho?" Winter whispered to Luke.
"A little accident with some drugs, followed by a lot of
caf," Luke said.  "Should make for an interesting honeymoon."
Winter laughed, and finally she walked up the stairs to the
altar.  Tycho came to meet her, and he quickly flipped her veil over
her head.  "Hi!" he said in a voice that reminded her more of a hyper
ten-year-old then her normal Tycho.
"Are you ok?" Winter asked, laughing at the situation, and
the wide-eyed man in front of her.
"Oh yeah!" Tycho replied, his words coming out fast.  "Never
been more excited in my life!"
"Just wait," Wedge said from behind them.  "The best is yet
to come."
"Dearly beloved," Admiral Ackbar stated, reading from a book
in his hands.  Winter and Tycho turned to face the Mon Calamarian.
Wedge took a step back and stood next to Iella, Leia and Han. He and
Iella linked arms as they watched the ceremony, and at one point,
Wedge took Leia's hand into his own and squeezed it quickly.  She
squeezed back, and they exchanged a smile.

EPILOGUE

The wedding had finished without a hitch.  As Winter and
Tycho walked back down the aisle together, the Rogues had stood at
the end of it with ceremonial swords raised to make an arch for the
couple to walk under.  Tycho walked with such a fast pace that Winter
almost had to run to keep up with him.
As they came out on the other side of the arch, Wes swung his
sword down to smack it across Winter's behind, but Wedge, standing
opposite of him, intercepted the sword and gave him a glare.  Wes
smiled, then resumed his stance.
After going to a private photography spot for pictures, Tycho
and Winter returned to the hall, which had now turned into a banquet
hall.  Many of the lower council members had gone home to deal with
the paperwork of the wedding, while the couple's friends and higher
politicians stayed to enjoy the festivities that followed.
At one point, Winter and Tycho got onto the dance floor to
dance, and the rest of the Rogues laughed as Tycho literally swung
Winter off her feet and around the dance floor.
Mirax laughed and turned to Iella, smiling.  "Remind me to
write down that caf recipe," she said, then poked Corran in the
ribs.  Another round of laughter erupted.
"All in all, I think this went off very well," Wedge
stated.  "I was afraid there for a bit, right after Tycho drank that
water, that things were going to go down in flames."
"A rogue go down in flames?" Corran asked.  "When has that
even happened?"
Everyone at the table took a glance at Hobbie, who looked
around in confusion.  "What?"
Their laughter was interrupted as Leia approached the table.
The men made to stand up, but she waved them to sit.  "Iella, would
you kill me if I asked Wedge to dance?"
"Can I really say no?" Iella asked.  More laughter and Wedge
stood, taking Leia's hand.  They walked out onto the dance floor as a
slow song started.
"I can't believe we did all this," Leia said.
"I know," Wedge replied, looking over at Tycho and Winter.
The two swayed to the slow music, and it was obvious that Tycho was
trying hard to restrain himself from speeding up.  "They are so
happy."
"They are," Leia smiled.  "It's funny.  Back during the
rebellion, we could never think of this kind of happiness."
"Now it's all we live for," Wedge said, finishing Leia's
thought.  He dipped her at the appropriate moment, and she came back
up smiling.  "Now if only I can get Wes and Hobbie married off."
Leia laughed.  "It'll come for them too, one day," she
said.  "Until then, they can baby-sit our children."

"Slow down, flyboy," Winter said.  "It's called a slow song."
"I'm really trying," Tycho replied, kissing Winter on her
cheek.  "But between the happiness I have, and the caf they made for
me before the wedding, I have so much energy that I can't get rid of
it all fast enough."
Winter smiled.  "Save it for the honeymoon."
Tycho laughed, and leaned forward, placing his forehead on
hers.  "Well, I have to say that this was well worth breaking out
elopement plans," Tycho stated.
      "Do they know?" Winter asked.
Tycho shook his head slightly.  "We'll just keep it as our
little secret.  Now, about our honeymoon…"
"Don't get any ideas, love," Winter stated.  "That's one
thing I'm planning."
"I'm planning on it to," Tycho said.  "After all, we are
husband and wife now."
"Just you remember that," Winter stated.  "And hope those
drugs don't have any bad after effects."
"If I'm in a drug induced sleep," Tycho whispered, closing his
eyes.  "Never let me awake."  And with that, he tilted his head and
kissed Winter, letting their lips meld into one as they wrapped their
arms around each other.

End.
