Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Star Wars Chicks are fighting for the cure by participating in local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks across the nation! Show your support by participating in a local walk, or donate to a walking team if you are unable to participate. All donations benefit the American Cancer Society. All genders are welcome to walk. Sociology of Star Wars Survey

John Tenuto, a sociology teacher at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois whose classes include Sociology of Star Wars, has asked Star Wars fans to share their opinions about the Star Wars phenomenon. He is collecting opinions via an online survey, open to anyone 18 years of age and older. Make sure that female fans are duly represented! Click here to participate in the survey.

Chicks dig Dragon*Con

(Community, September 1-4, 2006, Atlanta, GA)
The women of StarWarsChicks.com are gearing up for Dragon*Con 2006! As always, the convention will be in Atlanta, GA over Labor Day weekend. Host hotels this year include the Hyatt Regency, the Marriott Marquis, and the Hilton. If you haven't reserved your hotel room yet, do so soon - blocks are filling up quickly!

This year's guest list is still being confirmed, but early confirmations include Kevin J. Anderson, Peter Mayhew, Rebecca Moesta, and David Prowse. The 501st Stormtrooper Legion and Rebel Legion will also have a large representation present at the convention.
