Chapter 1
"I can't believe it! I just can't believe it!" Zai Jian had passed her trials and still couldn't believe that she was no longer a padawan, but a Jedi Knight.
Her now former Master Coronan had cut off her braid and told her in front of the whole Jedi Council that she was now a Jedi Knight, not a padawan.
Zai sat in the library with her friend and they were so happy for her and her new status.
"You are going to be a excellent Knight the whole Temple will ever have. Trust me, Zai. You are." Karma was Zais friend since they were young initiates. They had grown up together and they had shared joy and happiness within the Temple walls.
"I hope that you will be a great Jedi Knight, like Master Qui-Gon Jinn."
"Why do you say that? I could never complete him and his a Jedi Master! His padawan is nearly in our age." Zai eyed Karma suspiciously. Just as she opened her mouth to say something, she saw Master Qui-Gon Jinn walking into the library with his padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi. Karma made an eye contact with the padawan and they shared a smile. Zai knew that Karma like Obi-Wan but she never know that the feelings for him were so strong.
"Beware, Karma. Your Knight will take you by storm." Karma turned back to Zai and Zai knew what was going to happened next, so she got up from her chair fast and hurry out from the library, knowing that Karma would come after her.
"Just you wait, Zai Jian! I will get you for that!" That was the last time Zai Heard Karma screamed that day.
Karma didn't follow Zai as she usually did and Zai wondered what could happen to her if not a sexy padawan whose name is Obi-Wan Kenobi. He was cute and handsome but not her type of men.
Zai remembered her time as a padawan-learner during Master Coronan guides that she had a crush on Master Qui-Gon Jinn and she dreamt about him every night during that time. One day then she was going to meet her master in their shared quarters, she saw Qui-Gon holding a female Jedi Knight in his arms and all of Zais dreams and fantasies was broken down. She had to move on and went to her master and she promised herself that never fall in love that easy again.
Zai walked around in the Jedi Temple that has been her home for twenty-four years and thought about her time here. From to have been an initiate to a full-skilled Jedi Knight. Zai even knew that a life as a Knight is a hard life and it will be a long journey with adventures of good and evil. This was the life of a Jedi Knight.
A noise from behind woke Zai from her thoughts and she whirled around to see who it was. As she turned, she meet the most clear blue eyes she have ever seen and they belongs to Master Qui-Gon Jinn himself.
"Good evening, Knight Jian. Master Coronan told me that I could find you here. We have been called by the Council that they wants to see us." Qui-Gons eyes transformed from blue to grey and Zai felt very lightheaded by looking into them. Oh Force! I think I'm falling in love with him again! Please, not again!
"I haven't got a call from the Council. How can you be so sure?" Zai didn't understand quiet what Qui-Gon is talking about and it was confusing her. Was he talking about her first solo mission or was she going out on a mission with him?! Oh my God! This can't be happening to me or is it? I don?t know anymore.
"I'm sure, young Knight. The Council wishes to see us in two minutes and we better be going now.' The Jedi Master turned to his right and started to walk towards the Council chamber, with Jedi Knight Zai Jian walking closely behind him.
In the Council chamber, Zais' nightmare came alive. She was going out on a mission with Qui-Gon Jinn. They were going to a planet named Ithaka, to watch over the peace-assignments between two tribes who had fight each other for centuries.
"Ready for this mission, you are. Go now you must. May the Force be with you." Master Yoda was right that we had to go now, so I just could get to my new quarter and prepare myself. Zai bowed to Master Yoda and the rest of the Jedi Council and left with Qui-Gon Jinn walking behind her out of the chamber.
"Meet me in ten minutes on the landing-pad HR-1206." With that, he walked passed Zai and disappeared before she could blink. I will not survive this mission with HIM! He will drive me crazy!
Zai walked to her room to begin her packing of extra clothes and some supplies for the journey to Ithaka. She couldn't understand that she was going on a mission with a man that she promised herself not to fall in love with again. After finished packing, Zai went into the refresher and took a hot shower to regain her thoughts of the coming event.
