This 64-page book has photographs and information on the main characters and objects from the original trilogy, as well as some of the lesser-known characters. Some of the objects had to be re-created by ILM (at least they got the experts in!). The photographs are fabulous, and include 'posed' shots, behind-the-scenes piccies, and scenes from the movies. The text contains some technical detail, but it's definitely not too taxing - the book is aimed at children.
Much as I loved gazing at the two-plus pages on each of the main characters, I also loved all the information on the minor characters in the trilogy: Rebels (eg. Generals Dodonna and Rieekan, Mon Mothma), droids (eg. 2-1B; interrogator droid), creatures (eg. tauntaun, wampa), and Imperials (eg. Palpatine and his staff; all the guys Vader choked). There's also a really nice Boba Fett section, as well as info on Jabba's crowd and the Cantina gang.
Buy it? - for the younger fans of the Original Trilogy - YES! Definitely! As long as they don't mind you stealing it all the time. If you're looking purely for technical detail, there are better books out there.
