Original characters from the movies -- Wedge and Admiral Ackbar. And Leia gets a couple of nice scenes.
New characters -- the rest of Rogue Squadron. And Winter shows
up.
Cover art -- X-wings, a Lambda shuttle. (See previous review.)
Chicks -- 11 listed pilots at the front of the book include 3 chicks (one of them is an officer - whatever next!). Mirax, Ysanne, Iella (see previous review).
Any good? -- lots of undercover planet-side stuff, as well as some flying and a great speeder-bike chase. And there is a cracking scene with Gavin asking Corran about 'inter-special relationships' - had me rolling about on the floor with laughter, but that might just be my warped imagination. ;-) One major bug - huge planet with billions of inhabitants, and our heroes just happen to bump (in some cases, literally) into each other. I kept telling myself it was the Force at work and trying to ignore it, but I still didn't like it.
Read it? -- if you've read the first novel and want to know what happens next, then go ahead and read it. And I was really interested in knowing how the Rebellion legitimised itself into the New Republic by taking Coruscant. But watch out for the bug mentioned above - you can see it coming a mile off.
Rating -- 6 out of 10
