Original characters from the movies -- fairly accurate. Lots of nice Han/Leia interaction, with Leia also struggling to come to terms with Vader being her father. Luke gets a love interest. :) Wedge shows up, as does blue-ghosty Ben.
New characters -- the baddies (the Ssi-ruuk) are suitably horrible/scary.
The Bakurans are OK, although the characters felt a bit '2-dimensional'.
Cover art -- loved it! Probably my favorite.
Chicks -- Leia, Gaeriel (intelligent, but a bit gullible), Eppie Belden (very intelligent, strong character).
Any good? -- loved all the character interaction, especially the 'implied' stuff between Han and Leia. ;) The Ssi-ruuk made me squirm a bit, but not feel like throwing up. Could have done with a bit more 'action' (space battles, blowing stuff up, that sort of thing).
Read it? -- yes, although it's not absolutely necessary in order to follow subsequent books.
Rating -- 7 out of 10
