Starfighters of Adumar (X-Wing Series, Book 9)
By AngelaJade | June 26, 2000
Story -- the people of Adumar idolize fighter pilots above all others, so Wedge and friends (Tycho, Janson and Hobbie) are sent there to try to persuade the (rather useful) planet to join the New Republic. Unfortunately, the politics and customs of Adumar are in conflict with many of Wedge's own ideals, and he finds himself walking the fine line between the success of his diplomatic mission and keeping his people alive. And all is not as it seems on Adumar - where New Republic Intelligence is involved, you just know trouble can't be far behind.
Original characters from the movies -- Wedge. That's it. Even Ackbar is absent.
New characters -- only four of the Rogues in this book (see above). Plus Iella, Airen Cracken, and a few others.
Cover art -- 4 X-wings legging it out of an exploding hanger
Chicks -- Qwi Xux (very briefly), Iella, Hallis Saper (a reporter) and Cheriss (a young Adumari hand-to-hand combat champion).
Any good? -- at last - Wedge dumps the blue chick! :) Usual action and some interesting political stuff, too. As expected from Mr. Allston, several very silly one-liners and jokes. But no stuffed Ewok. Thank goodness.
Read it? -- yup! Last in the series.
Rating -- 8 out of 10
