Story — the Wraiths and the Rogues join Han Solo in an attempt to take out Warlord Zsinj and his fleet. This book finishes directly before ‘Courtship’ and goes a long way to explaining Han’s state of mind at the beginning of that novel.
Original characters from the movies — Han’s in this one quite a bit (obviously) - there’s a nice scene with him talking to Wedge about Leia. Chewie’s in this one too, scene-stealing the way only a wookiee can!
New characters — HUGE cast list at the front of the book (42, including droids, if you must know). Yay - the Rogues are back! And look out for an Imperial officer with a sense of humor - don’t remember seeing one of those before.
Cover art — an X-wing and a rather familiar-looking YT-1300 freighter.
Chicks — no Leia. And we haven’t seen Mirax or Iella for a while either, come to think of it. Still, ten chicks, including one baddie.
Any good? — yup! A big ground-based mission at the start, the usual exciting space-battle stuff, and some nice R&R moments.
Read it? — yes, although it’ll be a bit confusing if you haven’t read books 5 and 6.
Rating — 8 out of 10
